Municipal elections are scheduled for 14 February 2021 in Indian province of Punjab, the outcome is planned for 17 February. The elections are planned for 118 urban local bodies, including 8 municipal corporations and 109 municipal councils and Nagar panchayats. Initially, in October 2020, elections were scheduled, but were then delayed due to a pandemic.
Kisan Unions urge not to elect BJP candidates
Recently, Kisan Unions and their allies have bid the citizens to not to elect any BJP candidate in Punjab in the liue of three dark agri-marketing laws which were passed unconstituionally in Rajya Sabha with a target of just profiting the industrialists. Also, these laws are against the famers as well as the small merchants and public, said Bharatiya Kisan Union (Charuni) during Ambala City Civic Elections which were held in the year 2021.
Congress declares candidates for 50 wards in Hoshiarpur
2017 Municipal Corporation Elections Results:
The elections for municipal corporations were held in three districts including Patiala, Amritsar and Jalandhar. The ruling Congress swept the elections with a win in 20 of 29 municipal councils and nagar panchayats.
