During a significant talk commemorating the 100 years of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in Beijing on Thursday, Chinese President Xi Jinping struck a strident tone claiming both Modernity and Prosperity.
On Thursday, China's authoritarian Communist Party began a meticulously orchestrated celebration of its 100th anniversary with a 100-gun salute as hundreds of performers gathered in Tiananmen Square.
In a speech delivered from a deck on the Gate of Heavenly Peace, China's top leader, Xi Jinping, said, "For 100 years, the Chinese Communist Party has led the Chinese people in every struggle, every sacrifice, every innovation." "To summarise, it revolves on a single theme: ensuring the Chinese nation's great rejuvenation."
The Chinese people have never bullied, oppressed or enslaved the peoples of other countries, not in the past, not now and not in the future
As dawn broke on the celebration, streams of Communist Party youth groups in color-coordinated uniforms poured onto the square from all directions. They typically wore lime green, light orange, or bright red polo shirts. The majority of the young ladies wore black or white slacks, but several wore matching poodle skirts that would not have been out of place in the 1950s. In the rear of the Great Hall of the People, a military brass band in dress blues filed in.
Xi stressed during his address that China "must expedite the upgrading of national defence and the armed forces" in respect to the country's security. China has boosted the strength of its military and constructed bases on islands in the South China Sea under Xi, while claiming sovereignty over the vast majority of the waterways. On Taiwan, Xi stated that he wants the country to be "completely reunified" and that any attempts to grant the island independence from the mainland will be "smashed."
A few police officers stationed on walkways in the downtown area, which was restricted to traffic, around the square. However, security was mainly inconspicuous, with several surveillance cameras perched on virtually every pole like overweight pigeons.
For an outdoor event that drew tens of thousands of people to Tiananmen Square, coronavirus measures were underestimated. The foldable yellow and orange seats in the square's main section were not exactly socially separated, but they were still separated by 15 inches.
Nobody should underestimate the staunch determination, firm will and powerful capacity of the Chinese people to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity
