According to local media, a Russian jet carrying 29 passengers has gone missing on the country's eastern Kamchatka peninsula.
According to the Interfax and RIA Novosti news agencies, the Antonov An-26 was travelling from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky to Palana when it lost communication with air traffic control during a landing attempt.
According to the report, there were six crew members onboard, as well as one or two youngsters among the guests.
One source told Russian news outlet Tass that the jet may have crashed into the sea, while another told Interfax that it may have crashed at a coal mine near the town of Palana.
According to reports, a search including at least two helicopters has been begun, with rescue workers on standby.
Russia, which was formerly known for aviation crashes, has recently improved its air traffic safety record. However, poor aircraft maintenance and weak safety regulations continue, and the country has recently seen many fatal aviation accidents.
