Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has demanded a judicial investigation against PM Modi for Government's Treasonous and Anti-National actions regarding Pegasus. Pegasus, which was first reported about in 2019, is still one of the most used monitoring technologies. Pegasus was used by several countries to target politicians, journalists, and activists, including India. Amnesty International's Security Lab provided technical support for the Pegasus Project, which involved more than 80 journalists from 17 news organisations in 10 countries.
Outside the Parliament, Rahul addressed the media at Vijay Chowk. In an act of treason, he claimed, Prime Minister Narendra Modi "inserted a weapon in the phones" of country's residents.
It is suspected that the NSO Group is working with an unidentified government client in India. Amnesty International's Security Lab detected evidence of Pegasus on certain cellphones connected with some of the numbers in the database examined by the Pegasus Project. A few businessmen and officials who have a role in India's political economy were also included on the Pegasus Project's list.
Naresh Goyal, ex-CEO of Jet Airways, and B.C. Tripathi, ex-CEO of GAIL India, are just a few of the industry's discredited leaders. In addition, Ajay Singh, SpiceJet's chairman and managing director, and Prashant Ruia, Essar Group's CEO, are also prominently included.
Both a former Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) chief and a former Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertiliser Corporation (GNVFC) executive director have numbers on the list. Some of the employees who accept these posts assume that they would be subject to surveillance, according to a former PSU bureaucrat.
