    KERALA, INDIA: Rescue efforts continue in the Indian State of Kerala. The region has been hit with the worst monsoon flooding in nearly a century. Rescuers are using helicopters to airlift the people stranded on the rooftops. The heavy rains also triggered the landslides. More than 320 people have died and officials are worried the death toll will rise further with more rain predicted. More than 220,000 have been left homeless.

    Considering the huge loss of lives caused by the catastrophic floods in Kerala, Congress President Rahul Gandhi has decided that all MPs of the party, legislators, and members of the Legislative Council will give one month's salary to help the flood victims of the state. In a meeting with the party's general secretaries, state functionaries, state presidents and leaders of the legislative party, the Congress President also said that party leaders and workers should make every possible help to the people affected by floods in Kerala and some other states.

"

    Surjewala said, "Congress units of states adjacent to Kerala have formed flood relief committee. These committees will deliver relief material to Kerala. "So far 324 people have died due to floods.
