    Four held for illegal sand mining in Fazilka

    Fazilka, December 12

    Four persons have been arrested for excavating sand from the panchayat land, near the seepage drain of Salemshah village in Fazilka district.

    On getting information, the police conducted a raid and arrested Gagan Chopra and Rajesh Kumar, residents of Fazilka, Shiv Kumar, a resident of Khui Khera village, and Amritpal Singh, a resident of Jandwala Kharta village.

    The police also confiscated three sand-laden tractor trailers and a JCB machine from the site. Five persons including the four arrested accused and another person, identified as Rajinder Kumar, have been booked under Section 379 of the IPC and the Mining and Mineral Act.
