Political unrest has escalated just before Bengal's legislative elections. The political party of the State, the Trinamool Congress (TMC), has been on setback continuously since the campaign for the election began. Rajib Banerjee, Forest Minister of West Bengal, has now resigned on Friday as Minister of Cabinet. In such a scenario, defending your fortress against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has become a challenge.
"It is a huge honour and pleasure to represent the people of West Bengal", Rajib Banerjee wrote in his resignation letter to Chairman Mamata Banerjee. I express my heartfelt gratitude for taking this opportunity. Likewise, Rajib Banerjee said in a Facebook post, posted along with the resignation, on Friday, "I have considered each one of you as my extended family, and your support has always motivated me to go a extra mile and be at your service in a better way possible, hence I am announcing my formal resignation on this platform and have informed the concerned authority as well."
