West Bengal: Three BJP workers detained for 'shoot' slogans while touring for upcoming Assembly Elections

In West Bengal, before assembly elections this year, political unrest is rising in the state with politicians from both sides continuing their intense rhetoric. Meanwhile, a  State Visit to take stock of the election preparations has been attended in the meantime by a delegation of the Election Commission. Chief Electoral Officer Sunil Arora came from Assam and ordered for the arrest of three party  activists on Thursday, including the BJP's Yuva Morcha president. Action was done because they have been raising controversial slogans during the campaign.

Three activists including BJP's Youth unit President Suresh Sahu of the Hooghly District Youth Division shouted unnecessary 'Shoot the country traitors' slogans during party leader Suvendu Adhikari's road show. An appeal for bail had been submitted with the court by the convicted, and had been denied by the court until 30 January. With respect to the arrest of personnel of the BJP, an official claimed that on a Wednesday in Hooghly district, some of the workers of the B JP made such alleged slogans after which the district police immediately reported the case and three people were arrested.

After a meeting with Election Commission officials, TMC leader and minister Firhad Hakim said, "BJP had alleged that 10 percent of Bangladeshis and Rohingyas have names in the voter list. We have told the Election Commission that because you have made the list, this is a direct charge against you. By way of group speeches in West Bengal, BJP generates animosity. We demanded to take care of this from the Election Commission. All of us want elections that are inclusive and equitable. These 'shooting' slogans etc. divide the society and frightening people to vote for them in upcoming Assembly Elections. It's my duty to inform that BJP is sending BSF to villages in the West Bengal border areas and scaring everyone to vote”. The Election Commission said that “we will cross-check it”

On the TMC Minister's comment, BSF claims that it is a non-political power that that act as  border protection careers force guarding our international borders before and today with utter determination. We have prosecuted and brought to an end those responsible for illicit infiltration and smuggling. The BSF has confirmed that the accusations made against the BSF by Parth Chatterjee and Firhad Hakim are unfounded and fraudulent. BSF is fully committed to its motto 'Duty Until Death'.
