    72-year-old dies at Singhu

    Sonepat, December 15

    A 72-year-old farmer, camping at the Singhu border for 11 days, died on Tuesday after he complained of pain in the chest. The deceased has been identified as Gurmeet Singh of Kandala village in Mohali district (Punjab).

    Jagbeer Johal, also from Kandala village, said: "Gurmeet Singh was fine in the morning. He went for a walk and had breakfast. Around 12.30 pm, he complained of pain in his chest and sought help. As we tried to help him, he fell and died at the spot."

    Ravi Kumar, SHO, Kundli police station, said the body was handed over to victim's family after the postmortem. "Prima facie, the cause of death seems to be heart attack. The exact cause will be ascertained in the autopsy," he added.

    Gurmeet's death was third at the Singhu border. — TNS
